Where to Begin
There are three elements to a successful library:
- people to run it;
- books and resources to put in it;
- space to accommodate it.
To begin, you need to develop your vision of how the library integrates into the aims of the school, how you want it to look and how you want it to be used. Your next move would be to contact your nearest Schools Library Service for help and advice. If your local authority does not have a Schools Library Service, you can contact one in a neighbouring authority, contact your Public Library Service or visit https://sls-uk.org for more information
The following pages take you through the steps needed to create an excellent primary school library.
